Evangelizing

2 Timothy 4:1-5 KJV  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Our works shall be judged. We are not saved by works, yet, they are important for our eternity. This exhortation to preach the gospel and have true answers, ready, is direct instruction on how to bear fruit for Jesus. The only way we can have the truth ready to answer, in every situation, is to be studying GOD’s Holy Word each day.

Why? Time has come that sound doctrine has all but disappeared from our homes, our congregations, our society and our nation. We have capitalized on making leaders and teachers of only those who tell us what we want to hear. Do you remember, when did you first recognized a bold face lie proceeding from a politician? A teacher? A pastor? This time many prefer lies over truth. At some point, those that prefer lies will outnumber those who desire truth. Do not be fooled, we have been lied to by all three. Sometimes it is unintentional but, mostly, it is on purpose. This is why as individuals we must study to show ourselves truthful. How can we love with GOD’s love if we are speaking the language of Satan?

Evangelizing is more than speaking truth, it is living it. Using patience, resolve under persecution, living in the world but separated by righteousness unto good work. GOD is love, do we live lovingly? GOD gives life, do we honor life, treasure it, protect it, respect it? How we live proves our word. If you say you love GOD but abide those things He considers abominations then how do you know Him, how can you love Him? If we encourage the behaviors GOD hates, we deceive ourselves because we do not love GOD and on judgement day, (Luke 13:27 KJV) “...He shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”
