He was All About Jesus

John is happy to prepare people to know Jesus. Mark 1:3-4 NKJV

He preached repentance with urgency.Matthew 3:6 NKJV

What's keeping me from calling Jesus? Acts 22:16 NKJV

Here, I started to study the book of Mark. Mark begins the story of Jesus with John the Baptist. This is significant because John was busy preparing people for the forgiving mercy available, only in Jesus. The people lived trying to follow all the laws. John was happy to help the people see their inability to keep the law, which kept them from the liberty God intended for them.

The call to repentance by John was urgent. Why, then, do our church leaders expend little energy in alter calls? If the matter of repentance is paramount to believing Jesus is liberty, then why are we generally unwilling to call or be called to agree with God about our sin and publicly turn, again, to the Son? Why, when, we tell people the gospel do we hesitated to ask for a decision?

I believe the reasons we hesitate to call for repentance is because personally we have some pocket of sin and unbelief that we have, yet, to give to Jesus. We are not fully experiencing the liberty of forgiveness through Jesus. We have not committed our own selves to be All about Jesus. It is an urgency I must adopt, myself, as I desire to be all about Jesus.
