Psalm 110:5-7 KJV “The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. [6] He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. [7] He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.”
A. The Psalmist assures us that the Lord is available to us at all times. HIS power is the only by which the entire earth can and will be judged. HE will not forsake us and the evil rulers of courtiers will not succeed against HIS children. At the time the Psalmist would have known and understood the covenant between the LORD and Israel. We know the new covenant through Jesus Christ can bring us into a similar relationship with GOD.
B. We should never doubt, question or judge the LORD’S righteousness and mercy. Our understanding is so finite. We are not equipped, as humans, to realize the consequences of absolute perfect love and righteousness. When we look at the evil around us, we are tempted to question the love of GOD. “Why would a loving GOD allow…?” Yet, HE honors the free will that HE created in us. How could HE honor our free will, if HE did not allow evil? What need would there be for mercy? Would a life without the possibility of forgiveness, mercy and compassion be love? GOD firmly instructs about the treatment of slaves. There were absolutely abominations clearly described so that people would not abuse each other. Humans who engage in these are using their earthly authority trying to usurp the LORD’S ownership and love of human life. We can praise the LORD, whatever our lot, because HE always keeps HIS promises.
Psalm 111:1-10 KJV “Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. [2] The works of the Lord are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. [3] His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. [4] He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. [5] He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. [6] He hath shewed his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the heathen. [7] The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. [8] They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. [9] He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. [10] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments : his praise endureth for ever.”
C. Hebrews 13:8 KJV “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”We are comforted by the LORD’S consistency. HE does not changed HIS righteousness, compassion and mercy based on our deeds. This reason is why it is absolutely necessary for there to be only one way to enter into a relationship with HIM. Jesus paid for it all and only HE can redeem us from the judgement coming. Revelation warns us of GOD’S perfect wrath and judgement. John 14:6-7 KJV “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” The only escape is through Jesus. Praise the LORD!
